DIY- means do it yourself. Everything one posses require maintenance, to avoid breakdown. It’s important for us to know some actions that are necessary, to keep our PC in good working state at all times.
There are high level of revolution in the technological world more person where using desktops, now more gravitating to laptops, notebooks and palmtops. I must let you know that the difference varieties in the IT does not connote face out of others, all have their own advantages over the others. Their uses and needs are interwoven it is wise for you to know why it will be useful for you if you have, desk-lap-palm-tops. Having the three is not luxury but of necessity. They were invented at different point to tackle different problem. Below are some highlights of the uses of the gadgets.
Desktop: This, from the size appears cumbersome, hence not easy to carry about. But I will assume you that it is stronger, more rugged and can with stand more stress than the laptop. Having a desktop at home or office is essential, as it serve as a backup for some crucial data. Also there are some programmes (Depending on what you do) that will be threat if runs on laptops, try them on the desktop so as not to lose some stuffs. This apart from the space it occupies makes work easy to come by. Typing are made easily on desktop. And generally navigating through desktop is faster. To equate this to laptops despite the size, what you need is UPS (Uninterrupted power supply) with this, it’s just like the laptop, it will make you finish and save your work when power supply goes off. And I will advice that you use flat screen monitor if you want your UPS to last longer, for cathode ray monitors can consume more voltage. For security reason, it is more appropriate to store discreet information in a desktop at home than in laptops that you carry here and there. I will say “do not under estimate the power of a desktop”
Laptop: The portable nature and carriage value makes laptops more expensive and seasons better. Hitherto the advent of laptops, one needs to carry whatever he has into a storage device before it can be taken to some other systems or to showcase for approval or assessment but now a complete book (Novel) can be taken for preview with the lap top with no need to transfer to any portable, removable device. I think the only edge laptops have over desktop is the carriage and potable value. You can take it to the beach, park, picnics and lot more, provided the battery is charged you can also be working out in the car so it’s good for continuity of work on the move.
Palmtop: A mobile pc this, just likes the mobile phone is very handy and can be pocketed easily. Though this may not be so easy to work on as it is very tiny, but it’s a review desk, as you cross check previous work, it is very useful on the move. Now you can’t say because you have a palmtop you will discard your laptop, they are things you can easily do on laptop,will require more energy and time to accomplish on a palmtop. Despite the diverse types of PC, your sense of existence and readability at discharging duties will be made assessable when you attain the models
However what is paramount at this point is how you maintain the equipments. So many people take the habit of calling engineers at every little hitch. What are the common problems we encounter with PCs. Before I illustrate some basic troubles, one cogent point of device care, is do not charge excessively, be it UPS, laptops or palmtops once the battery is full (they is always an indication to signify level of charge) unplug it from socket too much of battery charging kills battery.
Another object issue to consider is the use of anti-virus. Virus is a deadly and fatal attacker of the pc. In human life virus related diseases are the most dreaded and dangerous likewise to pcs a virus can completely shut a system down and you will lose everything you have stored. So I advice you get an up to date antivirus and when installed ensure you update it periodically to avoid risk. They are various types of antivirus like AVG, MCAFFE, AVAST, KAPASKY and recently AVIRA ANTIVIRUS any of these will be effective provided its up dated regularly.
3) There is another act you need to avoid to elongate the span of your pc do not place you pc, on the floor, mostly on a commented floor, if it most be on the floor, something cushioning should be underneath to extricate the touch of bare floor. So many pc especially laptop had been damaged due to such careless act.
Of course, you should know that any electrical devices should not have any romance with water, so avoid water / liquid to have contact with your pc. This apart from the shock it create, it courses most damages and inactivates the circuits and diodes on the boards. Be careful.
There is another issue that requires careful attention. PCs are devices that radiate heat, that is when you are in a poorly aerated place, you will be sweating profusely while working apart from the uncomfortable state you are conditioned by the perspiration, the system can not breath well so it will affect its work state. This is when you will notice the speed will reduce and you start blaming the system. No! Check your Ambience. I advise that you make your surrounding as cold as possible and the ventilation should be well arranged.
Surfing the Net or browsing the internet as widely known is good I mean very good as it provide us with reliable information to virtually anything you want. It’s actually,true that most do not believe that whenever you connect your system to internet, what you are doing also is you’re opening door or exposing your Pc to virus. Each time you browse with your system, one or two virus must attack your system. If you go the public café; except when duel necessary, I advice you use their system. Most will connect their system for hours, without doing any thing worthwhile- you’re damaging your system. However if you must use your system, upgrade/update your antivirus simultaneously.
